The course goal for Basics of Shotgun Shooting is to teach the foundational knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a shotgun safely.

The NRA Basic Shotgun course is a training course that teaches gun safety rules; types of shotguns; proper operation of shotguns; ammunition knowledge and selection; selecting and storing; the fundamentals of shotgun shooting; clearing stoppages, and cleaning, inspection and maintenance.
