This class is for District of Columbia (DC) Residents & Non-Residents. This 2-day class meets the requirements necessary for students to apply for their Washington D.C. Concealed Carry License through the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

Once obtained through the MPD, the license will allow citizens to wear, carry or transport a firearm in DC. The class consists of sixteen (16) hours of classroom instruction on pistol basics including the parts of a pistol and pistol actions, basic firearm safety, fundamentals of pistol shooting, a review of basic marksmanship, defensive shooting fundamentals, the legal aspects of using deadly force, and instruction on DC specific laws on self-defense.

In addition, two (2) hours of range time with a 50-round qualification course is required.

The District of Columbia became a “shall issue” state which means that residents and non-residents
alike, that meet certain criteria, will be granted a concealed carry permit upon application.

This Basic Rifle Shooting Course is at least eight hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development.
